Promote certified values and sustainable practices through the sale of postcards using FSC® certified paper
- Agora Hotel Alliance
Agora has been actively promoting solutions to social issues and consideration for the global environment through its business. In addition to reducing paper consumption and promoting digitalization, we are also working to reduce our environmental footprint by promoting styles that allow for repeated use.
As a new initiative to promote sustainable production and consumption, we have introduced FSC® certified paper, which certifies that the products are made from well-managed forests, and are selling Agora's original postcards made from FSC® certified paper at all of our facilities. This will provide an opportunity for customers to easily obtain environmentally friendly products, and will also provide an opportunity for many people to learn about the value of FSC® certification.
We will actively incorporate FSC® certified paper into the paper products used in our hotels to continue our efforts to build a more sustainable future.
Environmental Initiatives in Cooperation with Public Transportation in Kyoto City
- Agora Kyoto Shijo
- Agora Kyoto Karasuma
By strengthening ties with Kyoto City's public transportation system and promoting the use of environmentally efficient means of transportation, Agora will contribute to the reduction of emissions that contribute to global warming, as well as to the maintenance and development of local public transportation, which is the foundation that supports regional revitalization.
In addition, by using public transportation and participating directly in the local community, tourists become more than just tourists; they become familiar with the culture and lifestyle of the area and experience the vitality and charm of the city more deeply by coming into contact with its daily life and values.
While public transportation-based tourism is gaining attention as a sustainable form of tourism, Agora will provide tourists with opportunities to experience local attractions more deeply, with the goal of contributing to the ecology and social and economic well-being.

Wooden room keys are made from wood produced under the highly reliable forest certification system of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which was established to promote forest management worldwide. Through the use of FSC-certified wood, we are striving to realize a sustainable society by using and incorporating wood responsibly.
Renewal to 100% fully recyclable paper bags
- Agora Hotel Alliance
For the first time in 10 years, Agora Hotel Alliance has redesigned its paper bags to be 100% recyclable and recycling-oriented. The new paper bags focused on functionality with a simple design. The wide design is based on white, and the string for the handle is made of densely woven paper, which is also strong enough. Supple and gentle to the touch like a cloth cord, it has a luxurious, modern, and simple look and feel.
In an effort to reduce the amount of waste generated by economic activities as much as possible, Agora changed the bag to a recyclable paper bag, with the handle strings also made entirely of paper, to help recycle resources.
"Sharing Travel" to expand sustainable travel to share
- Agora Hotel Alliance
As part of our efforts to realize a sustainable society through travel, we will expand the circle of "shared travel," starting from mobile batteries, which are indispensable for both travel and lifestyle, to sharing. Sharing, which enables a lighter travel experience by sharing things, makes travel more comfortable. Agora Hotel Alliance has introduced mobile battery sharing, which has become an important lifeline for people, and has set up a mobile battery charging sharing service at 9 Agora Hotel Alliance hotels for use not only by hotel guests but also by all those who enjoy traveling. The service is a proposal for freely customizable travel, and the connection between travel and people creates joy, and by sharing the experience, it is possible for each person to become naturally more conscious of sustainability. We also provide free power supply in case of emergency and create a system suitable for disasters as a social infrastructure.
Promote the use of local public transportation to connect local resources and further enhance the region's tourism attractions
- Agora Hotel Alliance
As an easy-to-start SDG, simply reducing the use of your own car a little and using express buses or public transportation can contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, the cause of global warming. In addition, most public transportation systems are privately owned, and the maintenance and development of regional public transportation systems, as well as metropolitan areas, will help revitalize local communities. By promoting the use of local public transportation for hotel guests, Agora has made an effort to support local revitalization of tourism resources for train and bus enthusiasts, who are also means of transportation for people living in the area.
GOVERNANCE
Implementation of infection control measures and initiatives for the safety and security of our customers and employees
- Agora Hotel Alliance
We conduct periodic lifesaving and food hygiene training sessions in order to ensure the safety and security of our guests and employees. In addition, we have established a policy of cutting off and eliminating relations with antisocial forces. As part of our infection prevention measures, we have installed alcohol disinfectants and temperature monitors. In addition, each hotel has a kit to test for antigens once a week.
Creating a corporate culture that allows diverse personalities and abilities to flourish and a workplace that is easy to work in
An e-learning education system has been introduced to make employee education a habit.
In addition, we have established a place for exchange among alliances as part of the Agora Hotel Alliance Cross-Training Program, which is held three times a year to provide opportunities for alliances to broaden their perspectives and acquire a wide range of hotel experience through their work. As part of our efforts to create a comfortable workplace through childcare support, we promote a balance between work and childbirth/childcare, and aim to create a comfortable working environment regardless of gender. We are striving to maintain the mental and physical health of all employees by targeting a 70% paid leave utilization rate. In addition, we have established the "Ladies Project," which aims to increase the number of female employees from the current 10% to 20% over a five-year period as a means of promoting the activities of female employees and materializing their ideas and sensitivities.

Delivering the value of functionality in style
Plastic products are abundant and familiar in our daily lives. We believe that the microplastic problem, which is one of the serious environmental problems in today's society, is a mission that we, living in Japan surrounded by the sea, should have a sense of crisis and tackle proactively. Starting June 1, 2023, Agora Place hotels will change the provision of disposable amenities to a self-service system only for guests who need them, allowing them to enjoy the freedom to choose what they need and to easily engage in sustainable practices while being conscious of what is good for the environment. In addition, by switching to environmentally friendly products in the future, we will contribute to proposing sustainable travel by confronting the issue of microplastics. We believe that by changing the way we spend our daily lives through travel and becoming aware of creating our own personalized travel, we can change the way we spend our daily lives to an ethical way of spending that is conscious of environmental issues, and this will lead to a new way of looking at ourselves as a new style of self.
Emphasis on local production for local consumption and efforts to reduce environmental impact in distribution
By actively using local ingredients, we aim to propose sustainable food that also leads to efforts to reduce the environmental impact of distribution. We contribute to the SDGs by proposing travel that revitalizes local communities, making local tourism more attractive. We believe that the techniques and mottos that producers have accumulated over the years will be passed on carefully as traditions, conveying to many people the producer's thoughts and ideas behind the ingredients. What we want to convey through our cuisine is not only the taste, but also the excitement of the actual production sites we visit, which we put into each dish to create new value creation as a part of food culture. We will disseminate a variety of initiatives aimed at enhancing the brand value of the region that connects producers and consumers.
Providing exciting experiences for children
A program was held for children to experience a piano concert on a special stage set up in the hotel's main lobby as a place for self-expression and exposure to a large audience. By visiting the concert venue, Hotel Agora Regency Osaka Sakai, the program also provided an opportunity to experience the hotel. We will continue to provide opportunities for the community in the city to connect across generations by having everyone, from children to the elderly, enjoy the sounds played by each of them together.
Efforts to revitalize the community and contribute to community development
To make your trip more enjoyable, we have installed a Machigokoro Map in the hotel. The map features about 30 attractive places in the surrounding area in categories such as food, shopping, experiences, history, and nature. We will connect the emotional experience of our guests' travel to the revitalization of the local community.

Donations to the Annual Helping Hands Campaign
Agora makes every effort and effort to reduce food loss as much as possible by reviewing daily production and sales plans. Disposing of food not only means wasting food, but also wasting resources and labor generated in the process. Reducing food loss is also a necessary effort to curb global warming. What would normally be disposed of as waste is instead used by local organizations that donate it to local children's cafeterias and other activities, leading to food loss reduction and food waste reduction.
Responding to emergencies
ChargeSPOT" (the mobile battery sharing service with the largest market share in Japan*) is a service that is expanding to 47 prefectures in Japan and to Hong Kong, Thailand, and Taiwan on a global scale. Agora will incorporate this service into all of its hotels as part of the sharing economy to provide easy and comfortable shared travel, free power supply in case of emergency, and to create a disaster-proof system as part of social infrastructure.
Enhance Sakai's brand value through travel
While offering a free style of travel, we have launched a project to strengthen the brand power of the region through new ties by disseminating information on the region's attractions, and through efforts to weave a future for the region's traditional industries and traditional culture. One example is the "First Plucked Uji Matcha Raw Chocolate," which comes in a gift box and was jointly developed by Hotel Agora Regency Osaka Sakai and Tsuboichi Seicha Honpo.
Interact and connect with local communities
Ms. Kambe, Manager of Human Resources at Agora Hospitalities Inc., visited a hospital in Osaka as a guest lecturer on hospitality and gave classes to doctors and healthcare professionals.
Our motto is to engage with as many people as possible and build bridges to the hospitality world.
It was wonderful to interact and network with the participants during this session.

SOCIAL
Supporting the Independence of People with Disabilities Produced goods in collaboration with "Peer Terrace," a continuous employment support facility
"Agora Again SDGs Gacha Plan" accommodation plans that support the employment of people with disabilities. We contribute to support the creation of an environment in which diverse people, including those with disabilities, can play an active role and engage in educational activities to raise awareness of cooperation. From the perspective of supporting independent living in the community for people with disabilities who have difficulty finding general employment, we aim to make a sustainable social contribution that also leads to the creation of places for activities and initiatives by forming partnerships with diverse people in cooperation with "Peer Terasu Inc.", a Type A business that provides continuous employment support. Travel promotes partnerships through exchanges and encounters between people and people, people and culture, and people and goods, and creates employment that supports the livelihood of diverse people. We believe that the greatest social contribution we can make is to "leave no one behind" by becoming a part of local life from the perspective of "travel," where we can contribute to the value chain through tourism, cooperating with various businesses and people in economic activities, protecting the tangible and intangible values created by people and nature, and contributing even if not directly through support.
